Melted Ham And Cheese Loaf

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 loaf oval rye bread or 1 loaf italian bread, unsliced
  • 8 slices boiled ham (thin slices)
  • 8 slices swiss cheese (thin slices)

Recipe

  • 1 melt butter is a small saucepan, and stir in garlic.
  • 2 preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • 3 cut bread crosswise into 8 sections (seven cuts), not quite through to bottom crust. with a pastry brush, spread garlic butter on both sides of bread at each cut. tuck 2 slices each of ham and cheese into every other cut in bread.
  • 4 wrap loaf in aluminum foil; bake for 40 minutes, or until heated through. open foil around loaf; turn oven to broil. broil loaf for 3 to 5 minutes, until cheese bubbles.
  • 5 to serve, slice through unfilled cuts (serve while warm).
