Mississippi Mud Pie

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 6 tablespoons chilled butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 2/3 cup dark corn syrup
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 4 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 3 large eggs
  • chocolate shavings (optional)

Recipe

  • 1 to prepare the crust, in a medium bowl, mix together flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder.
  • 2 using a pastry blender or two knives, cut the butter into the flour mixture until coarse crumbs form.
  • 3 add the beaten egg, tossing with a fork until a slightly dry dough forms.
