Reuben Roll-ups

Total Time: 1 hr 5 mins Preparation Time: 45 mins Cook Time: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 1 (3 ounce) package cream cheese
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 teaspoons caraway seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 -3 tablespoons cold water
  • 1/4 cup thousand island dressing
  • 2 (3 ounce) packages corned beef
  • 1 cup grated swiss cheese
  • 1/2 cup drained sauerkraut

Recipe

  • 1 for pasrty: cut shortening, cream cheese, flour and caraway seeds together into crumbs or small clumps.
  • 2 add salt and water.
  • 3 form into dough.
  • 4 roll dough into 2 rectangles of approximately 11x9 inches.
  • 5 set aside.
  • 6 for filling: spread salad dressing on pastry rectangles.
  • 7 top with layers of corned beef, swiss cheese and sauerkraut.
  • 8 fold in ends of dough.
  • 9 roll up to jelly roll fashion.
  • 10 seal the roll.
  • 11 bake at 450 for 15 to 20 minutes.
  • 12 slice the roll up into 1 inch slices.
  • 13 may insert party toothpicks if desired.
  • 14 arrange on serving tray or platter.
