Easy Old Fashioned Peach Streusel

Total Time: 30 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 1 (29 ounce) can sliced yellow cling peaches (packed in syrup)
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 10 shortbread cookies (we used lorna doones!)
  • 2 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons butter or 2 tablespoons margarine

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 400°f.
  • 2 drain peaches (use peach syrup for beverage or dessert sauce.); place in single layer in buttered 9-inch pie plate; sprinkle lemon juice over.
  • 3 crush cookies coarsely between sheets of waxed paper with a rolling pin.(there should be 3/4 cup.)
  • 4 combine with brown sugar and cinnamon in small bowl; cut in butter or margarine with pastry blender until mixture is crumbly.
  • 5 sprinkle over peaches.
  • 6 bake in hot oven 20 minutes, or until crumbs toast lightly.
  • 7 serve plain or with cream or ice cream.
  • 8 (we liked ours warm!).
