Maple Syrup Scented Scones

Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour (i prefer robin hood)
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup crisco all vegetable shortening, cold, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
- 1/2 cup 35% cream
- 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
- 2 tablespoons 35% cream
- 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
- 2 tablespoons icing sugar
Recipe
- 1 preheat oven to 375°f line a baking sheet with parchment paper. combine flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl. cut in shortening using a pastry blender or 2 knives or your fingertips until mixture resembles coarse meal.
- 2 in a separate bowl, stir together whipping cream and maple syrup. add to flour mixture, stirring just until dough comes together. add extra cream 1 tablespoons at a time if dough is too dry. knead dough together gently.
- 3 pat dough into an 8-inch round and cut into 16 wedges. place on prepared baking sheet.
- 4 bake in preheated oven 15-17 minutes or until golden or a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. transfer to a wire rack.
- 5 glaze: combine whipping cream and maple syrup in medium bowl. add icing sugar to form glaze. drizzle or spread glaze over warm scones. allow glaze to set before serving.
