French Pastry Cake

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 cups flour
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 3/4 cup hot water
- 3 egg whites, beaten stiff
- powdered sugar, for topping
Recipe
- 1 dissolve cocoa into hot water; let cool while you prepare other ingredients.
- 2 cream butter and sugar well.
- 3 add flour, sour cream, baking soda, salt and vanilla.
- 4 add cocoa mixture.
- 5 fold in egg whites.
- 6 pour into greased 9x13 pan.
- 7 bake at 350° dor 15 minutes.
- 8 lower oven to 325° nd bake for an additional 20 minutes or until tests clean.
- 9 when cool, sprinkle generously with powdered sugar.
