Strawberry Scones

Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/3 cup butter
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup whipping cream
- 1/4 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup strawberry, hulled and sliced
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1 tablespoon whipping cream
Recipe
- 1 combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in a large mixing bowl; cut in butter with a pastry cutter until coarse crumbs form.
- 2 form a well in the center; set aside.
- 3 whisk egg, vanilla, cream, and buttermilk together;
- 4 stir into dry mixture until just moistened.
- 5 fold in strawberries; gently knead dough on a lightly floured surface until smooth.about 10 seconds.
- 6 pat into a 7" circle about 1" thick.
- 7 slice into 8 wedges -- arrange on a parchment paper lined baking sheet.
- 8 to prepare glaze:
- 9 combine egg and whipping cream.whisk till frothy.
- 10 brush with glaze and sprinkle with additional sugar is desired.
- 11 bake at 375° until golden, about 15 minutes.
- 12 cool on a wire rack.
