Schnitz Peach Pie

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups unsifted all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup shortening
  • 1/3 cup cold water
  • 4 cups peeled sliced peaches
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Recipe

  • 1 to make the pie crust place the flour and salt in a large mixing bowl.
  • 2 work in the shortening, using a pastry blender or two knives until large loose crumbs the size of peas are formed.
