French King Cake

Total Time: 45 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 12
  • 1 (17 1/3 ounce) package puff pastry sheets, thawed
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1 cup powderd almonds
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup flour

Recipe

  • 1 frangipane - cream the butter and sugar together.
  • 2 mix in the almond flour.
  • 3 add the eggs one at a time, to gradually incorporate them.
  • 4 fold the flour into the mixture.
  • 5 assemble - place 1 sheet of pastry into a 9" tart pan.
  • 6 spread the frangipane mixture over the top.
  • 7 place the remaining pastry on top.
  • 8 trim the edges and seal. make a couple of vents in the top.
  • 9 bake at 350f for 30 minutes until the pastry is golden.
  • 10 allow to cool.
