French King Cake

Ingredients
- Servings: 12
- 1 (17 1/3 ounce) package puff pastry sheets, thawed
- 1/2 cup butter
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 1 cup powderd almonds
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup flour
Recipe
- 1 frangipane - cream the butter and sugar together.
- 2 mix in the almond flour.
- 3 add the eggs one at a time, to gradually incorporate them.
- 4 fold the flour into the mixture.
- 5 assemble - place 1 sheet of pastry into a 9" tart pan.
- 6 spread the frangipane mixture over the top.
- 7 place the remaining pastry on top.
- 8 trim the edges and seal. make a couple of vents in the top.
- 9 bake at 350f for 30 minutes until the pastry is golden.
- 10 allow to cool.
